Los Angeles

Los Angeles-I’ve lived in the SGV all my life and have never explored DTLA. See why I finally decided to change that.
DTLA

Los Angeles County is the most populous county in the United States. As of 2017, it has more than 10 million inhabitants. LA county’s population is larger than 41 individual states! How crazy is that? LA County has 88 incorporated cities and many unincorporated areas and is 4,083 square miles.

Within LA County there is the San Gabriel Valley, which is where I live. San Gabriel Valley is generally to the east of the city of Los Angeles. Surrounding areas include the San Gabriel Mountains to the North, San Rafael Hills to the West, Puente Hills to the South and Chino Hills to the East.

I’ve lived in the San Gabriel Valley all of my life. Even though the city of Los Angeles is only 15 miles away I’ve never really gone to explore it or the surrounding areas, shocking right? With traffic getting into LA and parking being what it is down there, I’ve never wanted to deal with any of it, to be honest just thinking about it stresses me out.

Recently I realized how much DTLA and the surrounding areas have to offer and what I’m missing out on. Luckily for me, I have two friends who thought like I did and now also want to explore these areas. My friend, Michelle, was nice enough to do the research and put this super organized list together, the only thing I really contributed was the coffee shops.

On my blog, Coffee & Fernweh, you’ll now find a new section called LA Local. All of our LA adventures will be posted in this section, so they’ll be easy to find. As we start checking items off our LONG list, I’ll link the individual posts back to this list as well.

My friends and I are really excited to get out and explore LA and its surrounding areas and I hope you come along for the journey!

  1. What an awesome list! I really need to make more of an effort to explore my hometown while I’m here. It’s so easy to push it off because it’s just home. But there’s so much to see in our backyards! Can’t wait to follow along with this series.
