Restaurants & Coffee: Maui Part 2

This is Part 2 of restaurants & coffee: Maui. I decided to make it 2 parts simply because if I didn’t it would have been a super long post. If you missed the first part you can click on link, Restaurants & Coffee: Maui Part 1

Hawaii Gelato

img_4511Ashley and I LOVE this place! Anytime we are on Front St we have to stop here. Their gelato is made with local ingredients using traditional Italian techniques and they have 30 flavors available daily. My favorite is the Maui Pie; it has coconut, Kona coffee, fudge, and mac nuts! It’s so flavorful and creamy. If I’m feeling adventurous I’ll get a medium, which is two flavors and I’ll mix my Maui Pie with chocolate mac nut. When you’re on Front St, make sure you stop here.

Ono Gelato

img_4522From what I could tell has three locations; Kihei, Front St, and the newest is located in Whalers Village, which is the location Ashley and I visited. I got the Coffee Crunch which is Maui coffee, mac nuts and chocolate chunks. It was good, it was creamy and I could taste all the different flavors. My biggest issue is the price, a small which is one flavor is $5.25! I’d rather go to Hawaii Gelato but I’m glad we gave Ono Gelato a chance.

Relish Burger Bistro

Usually on our last morning we walk next door to the Westin and have breakfast. I always get the Hawaiian French Toast and a Mimosa. The french toast is made with Hawaiian sweet bread, it comes with a slice of pineapple. The thing that makes this french toast my absolute favorite is the warm coconut syrup! Yep! You read that right, coconut syrup. I am not a fan of maple syrup at all. I do however love coconut. This syrup is amazing, so amazing I could probably drink it straight from the container. I typically get the house mimosa, but I decided to be a bit adventurous and try the Westin Maui Mimosa. It is made with prosecco and guava juice. It’s my new fave.

Island Vintage Coffee

I’m so glad this place is within walking distance from the condo. They have numerous locations but only one on Maui and it’s in Whalers Village. Their drink menu has espresso based drinks, fresh brewed coffee, frozen Kona coffee, tea, smoothies and they have a few coffee free options as well. Their food menu consists of Acai Bowls, sandwiches, soup & salads and they even have a small breakfast menu. It’s important to note breakfast and lunch is served daily from 6:30a-2pm. I mainly come here for the coffee, shocking I know, I’ve tried a few different things by far my two favorite drinks are the Island Latte and the Coconut Kona Mocha. I got the Island Latte Iced this time, it has macadamia with hints of coconut and man is it good! I don’t think this drink lasted me more than a few minutes I couldn’t stop drinking it. The Coconut Kona Mocha is a ~blended drink~ since I work for a large coffee chain I HATE blended drinks with a passion BUT this drink is TO DIE FOR! I mean what’s not to love, you’ve got Kona Coffee, coconut and mocha, that’s three of my favorite things!  Island Vintage Coffee’s frozen Kona Coffee puts the blended drinks I make on a daily basis to shame! {Sorry to the Siren} Ash and I get the Coconut Kona Mocha at least 2 or 3 times while we’re on Maui.

Akamai Coffee

Has 2 locations, one in Kihei and one in Kahului. I visited the one in Kahului and it’s located in the far end of the Home Depot parking lot closer to the gas station. It’s the cutest little coffee place EVER! It is drive-thru only. They serve 100% Maui Coffees, which are obviously locally grown. This is one of those places we’ve driven past for years and I’ve always wanted to try but never wanted to stop just for me. Well, this time I asked my dad to stop because it was time for me to try this place out. I got the Iced Mocha with mac nut syrup. It was so good! It had a subtle mocha taste with a strong mac nut taste which I was totally into! The barista that helped me was super friendly and sweet! Akamai is definitely a place I want to come back to!

  1. The French bread/mimosa looks great! But this hate for maple syrup is sad… Would like to know why, & if you have not been to Canada then maybe you can try some real maple syrups… 🙂
