Oh Portland! Home to great food and some of the best coffee I’ve ever had. This trip was spur of the moment and I’m so glad I got to experience it with Alex. I’m still grateful she let me invade her solo trip.
Flying into PDX was a breeze. The light rail system is fast, efficient and cheap just the way I like it! We stayed at the Westin Portland (courtesy of some spg points) it’s in the heart of downtown and was a beautiful hotel. I would definitely recommend it to anyone going to Portland.
Update: It looks like The Westin Portland is now closed and another hotel is in it’s place
We went to Washington Park, which is huge btw, and pretty much walked most of the park as we made our way to the International Rose Test Garden where two lonely roses were still in bloom. We visited legendary Powell’s books, saw the iconic ‘Keep Portland Weird’ sign & the ‘Portland Oregon’ sign, went to the Portland Art Museum (mainly for the Warhol exhibit), went to the Leach Botanical Garden, did a beer tasting (when in Portland) & got to see a few protests (Trump had just won the election).
Every single restaurant Alex and I went to was AMAZING!
-The Daily Feast
-Fat Head’s Brewery
-Tasty N Alder
-Portland City Grill
-Blue Star Donuts
I know I’m forgetting a handful of coffee shops, Alex & I were VERY caffeinated on this trip every couple blocks we would see a new shop and have to try it. The following were my favorite shops.
-Case Study Coffee Roasters
